Monroe County, PA—Big news for local property owners: Monroe County has officially started a major property reassessment project, aiming to update property values and assessment data across the county. Partnering with Tyler Technologies, this initiative follows the previous reassessment completed in 2020 and is set to wrap up by 2028.

What does this mean for you? Over the next few years, assessment staff will be out in the community conducting in-person visits to collect data. You might spot assessors in Monroe County-issued polo shirts with official photo ID badges, measuring exteriors of homes and asking a few questions (don’t worry—they’ll never ask to come inside).
Here’s what assessors may ask about:
Number of bedrooms and bathrooms
Heating and cooling systems
Year the home was built
Materials and condition of the structure
Level of finishing in attics and basements
As a safety tip, always verify an assessor's official ID and never allow anyone inside your home for a reassessment. Importantly, if anyone claiming to be an assessor attempts to enter your home, you should contact law enforcement immediately. All legitimate assessors will only be working Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Starting around November 1, 2025, property owners will begin receiving postcards with QR codes linking to their property data. These can be used to review and update property information online.
Stay alert for field visits, and keep an eye out for official communications in your mailbox. For any questions, residents can contact the Monroe County Assessment Office at 570-517-3133 or visit www.monroecountypa.gov.
