FORECAST SUMMARY
Extreme Heat Warning (through Wednesday 8 p.m.)
Our first week of summer coming in HOT. Temperatures will approach and possibly exceed some daily records. With the humidity, heat index values will rise into the triple digits during this time. Make sure to stay hydrated and cool.
Monday Through Wednesday
A big area of high pressure to our south will bring a lot of heat and humidity to our region from Monday to Wednesday. This heat wave is more dangerous because it follows a long period of cooler weather. Temperatures will get close to 100°F, and it will feel even hotter with the humidity. Make sure to drink plenty of water and avoid too much time outside. Heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths in the U.S., so please take care and stay safe in this heat!
Mid to End of Week
A frontal boundary will work its way into the area late Wednesday breaking down this hot high-pressure dome. While it will still remain warm, the boundary will provide a mechanism for another extended period of "unsettled" summer weather, with a chance of showers and thundershowers through the end of the week.
Recommended Actions
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
